Jesse Simon is the grandson of the legendary Joe Simon, co-creator of Captain America, Bucky, Red Skull, Vision, romance comics, the Original Spiderman. Joe was also the man who hired a young Stan Lee. Jesse has vast knowledge about Joe Simon, Jack Kirby, and the golden age. Recently, he’s traveled around the world to preserve the history of their work in all its forms.
Growing up closely with Joe, Jesse developed a love for the golden age and especially art which was fueled by Jesse viewing historic pieces of artwork unbeknownst to him. On the personal side, Jesse enjoys sharing his intimate memories of his grandfather. Jesse is also a collector of original art and comics, primarily focusing on the golden age, Joe Simon, and Simon & Kirby art. Jesse’s art has appeared in numerous venues with an example of Columbia University. Jesse’s comic collecting started at a young age but became serious in late 2019. Since then he's garnered an acclaimed comic collection of Timely and Dc comics of which are all typically Simon and Kirby involved including Captain America Comics 2-10.
Jesse brings a multitude of items to his appearances which include limited edition posters featuring iconic artwork. Occasionally Jesse will bring with him some scarce golden age or key silver age comics. Some scarce books which reprint some of Simon and Kirby’s best work and at times The Comic Book Makers written by Joe Simon and Jim Simon which was the first of its kind; detailing the comic industry from an insider.
To coincide with his story telling of history, Jesse has assembled a unique portfolio which features many historic pieces of art. In addition to the artwork that spans over many decades and multiple genres, there are rare photos of Joe with fellow artists/creators to the likes of Jack Kirby, Stan Lee, Jerry Robinson, Joe Sinnott, John Romita and others. Also many personal photos of Joe and his family, Jesse with his grandfather. That portfolio is a treasure trove to anyone who loves comics and history.
